Fine Glass Studio ● XaQuixe ● Custom Designed Glass
The fine glass studio XaQuixe is located in Oaxaca, Mexico. Salime Harp and Christian Thornton founded the studio in 2002 to create works of art and design using glassblowing, as well as other cold and hot techniques. The idea of opening a glassblowing studio in southern Mexico was born from the desire to produce fine decorative pieces as well as supporting the Oaxacan economy by providing mezcal producers with custom-made bottles. These bottles would make their product more attractive on the international market. Due to their shared professional vision Salime Harp and Christian Thornton began the construction of a 380 square meter recycled glassblowing facility that would benefit the people of Oaxaca and counteract the environmental destruction that Mexico is facing. We offer a wide range of products including many different types of containers, centerpieces, vases, dishes and paperweights. All of our exclusive deigns, both functional and decorative, are perfect for corporate gifts or special events. We have worked extensively within the fields of architecture and design and our creation of lamps, panels for doors and windows, and bowls for original designs in sinks, have limitless possibilities. We also produce tableware in exclusive and elegant designs. We have the experience necessary to guarantee that all of our products, of whatever size, are of the highest quality. Objectives For their contribution to the community and perseverance in achieving their goals, XaQuixe glass was selected by the Mexican federal government in 2002 and 2006 to receive grants from the PYME fund to help strengthen them to continue with their mission. Mission XaQuixe received support during its’ start up from the Federal Government´s FIDECAP fund. The fund awards grants to micro, small and medium businesses to strengthen their productive links in Mexico. Click HERE for our Flickr Photo Gallery
